Dennis Brown Tonsil holding Forceps

Dennis brown tonsil holding forceps is used to hold and medialize tonsil during tonsillectomy surgery. Its tip is curved and toothed. The curvature enables tonsil to be held without obstructing the vision of surgeon. It has an incomplete ring on one of its arms (indicated by an arrow). Through this ring snare wire can be passed to snare the tonsil out. It also has a locking mechanism. Once locked the tonsil tissue will be held firmly within its prongs.

Even though this instrument resembles Luc's forceps, it differs from it in the following:

1. The edges of thejaw are blunt and do not cut tissue

2. The upper jaw is smaller than the lower jaw

3. The tip has a box mechanism to make it easy to hold tissue
