Holmgren adjustable aural speculum

This is a self retaining adjustable aural speculum. Its flanges resembles more or less a Duck's bill. The flanges can be made to move apart by tightening the screw provided for this purpose. Hence this speculum can be used for surgical procedures involving the ear. Since it is self retaining, it can stay in a position allowing the surgeon to have both his hands free to perform the surgical procedure. This speculum straightens the external auditory canal and also holds the cartilaginous portion of the external auditory canal wide apart making it easy to visualize the tympanic membrane.
